SACRED ABSTRACT

These photos are excerpted from an upcoming photo book chronicling a trip through Nepal's Kathmandu and remote Everest-regions. A crew of us from Arcos Films were there filming a documentary about rural girls' education for our non-profit project, Rising Tide. From Kathmandu we arrived by helicopter to a mountain village and clawed our way up and down mountains for two days to reach a school-building project site deep in the Solukhumbu Himalaya region. We found depth and joy and a hundred other emotions along the way and though we're only at the start of post-production for our main projects, I wanted to share a series of shots of the silent, sacred mountains we encountered – upside down and slightly abstracted, the landscape's incisions tearing itself into textures, dividing the sky.
